Learning doesn’t have to be boring! Jan has a knack for humorous analysis, which enables her to keep her audiences laughing, not just with a comedy show, but also with some of her keynotes. Having sold comedy material to just about everyone. . . from the Tonight Show monologue, to greeting cards, hundreds of radio stations and even guests on the Jerry Springer Show (yes, some of it is staged). . . Jan can now tell anyone how to do it themselves. Jan’s program “Finding the Funny in Communications” offers quick pointers on pulling out the humor FAST, so that your message is heard and remembered. This is a great program for business professionals – forget the doom and gloom of the economy and use humor to make yourself stand out!
And in her “Finding the Funny in Change” speech, she gives practical tips on handling life’s curveballs. Her creative guidelines to mastering change are taken from her own experiences leaving the cushy “regular” job and heading out into the bumpy road of comedy.
Born in D.C., Jan was in charge of the “Joke of the Day” for her junior high school lunch table. Not surprisingly, she majored in communications at Virginia Tech, where she was a disk jockey for the local radio station.
Jan’s humor is clean and appropriate for all groups.
Jan on Work:
“I thought the benefits at my last job were good, they said we got 20 days off a year. . . they meant 10 weekends.”
“I just read that there are fewer women in the workforce than men. I think that’s because we women warn each other. Once a year,
we have that “Take Your Daughter To Work Day,” and show ’em what happens when you don’t marry rich.”
Jan on Kids:
“Now that my sister has kids, the only gifts she gives me are pictures of them. I don’t have any kids, so I sent her a picture of me sleeping in on Saturday.”
Jan on Health:
“Smokers are the only ones who know what’s going on in the whole company because they take those cigarette breaks outside, and talk to people in other departments. Of course they don’t live long enough to tell us anything.”
“I went on Jenny Craig by accident. I was staying with a friend of mine and that’s all the food she had. I made myself a snack – wiped out 5 weeks’ worth of her meals.”

"I simply can't remember when I have laughed so hard for so long. We were delighted the way you drew the audience in by using the events of the weekend and added your unique brand of humor to them. Many, many thanks for a wonderful time! I was even thinking of you later in the evening last night and thought what makes you so good....besides the wonderfully humorous way you see things, but that your delivery and timing are impeccable! Just great stuff! Take great care...keep us laughing...it's a great gift you have!!!" — Pinnacle Health
"You provided the perfect beginning for our convention. You were not only very funny, but you managed to do so at 9:30 a.m. and your routine was referred to by all in attendance throughout the remainder of our conference." — RD Marketing Group
"Thank you for your outstanding presentation on "Finding the Funny in Change." Our group was able to connect with your 3 tips for dealing w/ change and we can apply at all levels of our organization." — U.S. Airforce
"The homework you did to bring humor to everyone's evening proved to be what people needed and enjoyed. The feedback I received about you was exemplary. After two long days, your fast pace, quick wit, and humor tied to everyday events had people laughing into the next day. They are still talking about it. What was also greatly appreciated was the fact that your comedy is very funny without crossing over to humor that is offensive in nature to anyone in a diverse group." — Pearson Education Products
